Specimen Requirements

Specimen must arrive within 30 minutes of draw.

 

Specimen Type: Venous blood

Container/Tube: Dark-green top (lithium heparin) tube or lithium heparin blood gas syringe. Microtainers are not acceptable for specimen collection.

Specimen Volume: 2 mL

Syringe Specimen Minimum Volume: 1.5 mL

Collection Instructions: If sending syringe, remove needle, express air bubbles, and cap with rubber stopper.
