Methodology
Chemiluminescent Microparticle Immunoassay (CMIA)
Specimen Requirements
Specimen Type: Plasma
Container/Tube: Lavender top (EDTA)
Specimen Volume: 1 mL
Specimen Minimum Volume: 0.15 mL
Collection Instructions:
1. Hemolyzed specimen is not acceptable.
2. If patient is on nesiritide (Natrecor), wait 5
half-lives (2 hours) after infusion before drawing specimen.
3. Remove plasma from cells within 4 hours of draw.
4. Specimens can be processed and tested up to 4 hours at ambient temperature.
Additional Information: Glass vial is not acceptable.
