Specimen must arrive at the testing laboratory within 24 hours of draw. Specimen can only be drawn Monday through Thursday and not the day before a holiday. Specimen must arrive at SMDC Main Clinical Laboratory Sendouts by 2 p.m. the same day it is drawn and arrive at Fairview Diagnostic Laboratories within 24 hours of draw.

This test is only offered in the East and Central Regions. It is not available in the West Region.

Methodology

Molecular Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR)/Sequence-Specific Oligonucleotide Probe (SSOP) Assays for HLA-DR and HLA-DQ Specificities

(PCR is utilized pursuant to a license agreement with Roche Molecular Systems, Inc.)

Specimen Requirements

Draw specimen Monday through Thursday only and not the day before a holiday. Specimen must arrive at SMDC Main Clinical Laboratory Sendouts by 2 p.m. the same day it is drawn and arrive at Fairview Diagnostic Laboratories within 24 hours of draw.

Container/Tube: Lavender top (EDTA)

Specimen Volume: 7 mL

Collection Instructions:

1. Draw blood prior to dialysis.

2. Send specimen in original VACUTAINER.

3. Do not transfer blood to other containers.

4. Clotted specimen is not acceptable.

Additional Information: Physician is responsible for providing a completed Fairview Laboratory Immunology/Histocompatibility Test Request Form. Request form is available from SMDC Main Clinical Laboratory Sendouts at 218-786-4514 ext. 1-8157.
