Useful For/Utility
Detecting drug abuse involving alcohol, amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, buprenorphine, cocaine, methadone, opiates, oxycodone, phencyclidine (PCP), and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).
Methodology
Alcohol Dehydrogenase: Alcohol
Enzyme Immunoassay: All others
Includes alcohol, amphetamines, barbituates, benzodiazepine, cocaine, methadone, opiates, oxycodone, phencyclidine (PCP), and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).
Note: This test should only be ordered on pregnant women or infants exhibiting clinical findings that are a medical indication of controlled substance use.
Clinical Information
A positive result for any of these test components will result in confirmatory testing at a reference laboratory.
Specimen Requirements
Specimen Type: Urine, random
Container/Tube: Plastic urine container
Specimen Volume: 30 mL
Specimen Minimum Volume: 2.1 mL
Collection Instructions:
1. Collect a fresh, random urine specimen.
2. No preservative. Specimen with boric acid is not acceptable.
Additional Information:
1. If there is a delay in transport of >24 hours, send specimen frozen.
2. A positive result for any of these test components will result in confirmatory testing at a reference laboratory.
3. Adulteration of specimen may cause erroneous results. If adulteration is suspected, obtain a fresh specimen.
4. If specimen displays turbidity, centrifuge before analysis.
