The monospecific direct antiglobulin test (DAT) is used primarily for the investigation of hemolytic transfusion reactions, autoimmune hemolytic anemia, and drug-induced immune hemolysis.

Clinical Information

The monospecific direct antiglobulin test (DAT) can determine if red cells have been coated in vivo with IgG, complement, or both.

Specimen Requirements

Specimen must arrive within 48 hours of draw (<24 hours preferred).

Preferred: Pink top (K2EDTA)

Acceptable: Lavender top (EDTA)

Specimen Volume: 4-6 mL

Specimen Minimum Volume: 1 mL

Collection Instructions: Send specimen in original tube.
