Test Algorithm

Elution studies may be performed in the invesigation of a positive DAT and/or autocontrol performed as part of an antibody identification. Note: cord blood samples with a positive DAT will not reflex an Antibody Elution, it is only done upon request.

Clinical Information

Elution dissociates antibodies from sensitized red cells with the objective of recovering bound antibody in a usable form.

Container/Tube: Lavender top (EDTA) or pink top (K2EDTA)

Specimen Volume: 6 mL

Specimen Minimum Volume: 4 mL

Collection Instructions: Send specimen in original tube.
