The direct antiglobulin test (DAT) is used primarily for the investigation of hemolytic transfusion reactions, autoimmune hemolytic anemia, and drug-induced immune hemolysis.
Clinical Information
The direct antiglobulin test (DAT) can determine if red cells have been coated in vivo with immunoglobulin &/or complement.
Test Algorithm
Extended DATs using IgG and C-3 specific antisera may be requested at additional charge if Polyspecific, Coombs is positive
An RBC elution and any necessary antibody ID may be performed at additional charge if indicated
