Specimen Requirements
The only acceptable source for this test is Nares. For all other sources, please order LAB6007-Culture, Wound (Aerobic).
Specimen source is required.

Collection Instructions:
1. Obtain specimen using a sterile eSwab.
2. You can culture both anterior nares with this swab.
3. Rotate the dry swab against the inside of each nostril for 3 seconds while applying pressure with a finger to the outside of the nostril. Do not insert the swab more than 1-1.5 cm. To avoid specimen contamination, do not touch the swab tip to anything other than the inside of each nostril.
4. Remove the cap on the transport tube and place the swab into the tube and break it against the edge of the tube, replacing the cap making sure it is secure. Dry swab is not acceptable.
Additional Information: Label tube with patient’s name (first and last), date and actual time of collection, and source/type of specimen.
