Methodology
PCR and Fluorescent Hydrolysis Probes, Platelet Antibody Bead Array (PABA) and Flow Cytometry
Specimen Requirements
Specimen Type: ACD B whole blood or Citrate whole blood AND serum
Collection Container/Tube: ACD B Pale yellow top and Plain Red top Serum
Submission Container/Tube: Whole blood in original tubes; Serum aliquot
Specimen Volume: 30-40 mL ACD B and 10 mL Serum
Additional Information: Specimen must be received within 4 days of draw date. Older serum samples accetable if frozen.
Specimen Transport Temperature
Refrigerate
Ship on an ice pack. Protect whole blood from freezing by wrapping in paper towels. Place the specimen and the test requisition into plastic bags and seal. Insert into an insulated container, place in a sturdy cardboard box, tape securely, and ship by overnight carrier. Ship the package in compliance with your overnight carrier guidelines.
