Container/Tube: Semen Analysis Collection Kit/Sterile UA Container.

Specimen Volume: ≥ 0.5 mL

Note: For specimen volumes < 0.4 mL, check with provider to determine whether to perform or cancel the test.

Collection Instructions:

1. Patient should have 2 to 7 days of sexual abstinence at the time of semen collection for accurate results.

2. Provide patient with a Semen Analysis Collection Kit and Semen Collection for Comlpete Analysis Brochure.

3. Protect specimen from temperature extremes.  Body temperature is optimal. Do not refrigerate or freeze specimen.

Additional Information:

1. SMDC:  Specimens may be collected or dropped off by appointment only M-F. Testing collection is to be scheduled by either the OBGYN or Urology departments in EPIC.

2.  Fargo Hospital: Specimens must be dropped-off between 0700 and 1330.

3. Specimen needs to be delivered to the Clinical Laboratory within 30 minutes of collection.
