Thrombo-tic-Manual Platelet Count
Specimen Requirements
EDTA blood, sodium citrate blood, and a Thrombo-tic
collection vial are required.
Container/Tube: A Thrombo-tic collection vial, a Lavender top (EDTA), and a light-blue top (sodium citrate).
Specimen Volume: 10 µL of blood into a Thrombo-tic collection vial; 1 mL (minimum volume: 0.6 mL) of EDTA whole blood; and a full, light blue-top (3.2% sodium citrate) tube(s).
Collection Instructions: Mix well and put parafilm over the top of the Thrombo-tic.
Additional Information:
1. Label each specimen appropriately (as blood in Thrombo-tic, EDTA whole blood, and sodium citrate blood).
2. Indicate as blood in Thrombo-tic vial, EDTA whole blood, and sodium citrate blood.
3. Send all 3 specimens together to the laboratory.
