Methodology

Interferon Gamma Release Assay

 

The TSPOT TB test is an indirect test for M. tuberculosis infection (including disease) and is intended for use in conjunction with risk assessment, radiography and other medical and diagnostic evaluations.

Specimen Requirements

Specimen Type: Whole blood

Container/Tube: 10 mL dark green top (lithium heparin or sodium heparin) tube with NO separation gel

Specimen Volume:  6 mL-Adults and children over 10 years old

Specimen Minimum Volume: 4 mL-Children 2-9 years old

Specimen Pediatric Minimum Volume: 2 mL-Children up to 2 years old

Collection Instructions:

1. Do not centrifuge. Maintain at room temperature.

Additional Information:

1. If patient is immunosuppressed, collect 2 tubes of blood.
